High Performance points ranking

The CEC has scheduled a High Performance Competition for the same weekend as the ACA's Youth Local Bouldering Competition at Blocs in February. The ACA has 10 athletes that were invited to participate in this event! Congratulations to these athletes!

Due to this conflict the ACA has decided to use a points structure to reward the athletes for their attendance at the HP Competition. We wanted to make everyone aware of this point system, as it is relevant to provincial rankings.

All athletes attending the HP competition will be receiving a minimum of 3rd place local points for bouldering because these athletes will be missing the opportunity to earn points in Alberta at the Blocs competition. These athletes will have the opportunity to earn points higher than 3rd place based on beating another ACA athlete in their age category at the HP competition if they are competing in bouldering only. The break down of the points structure is below:

  • If the athlete is competing in lead, that person will earn third place youth local bouldering points no matter what.

  • If the athlete is competing in bouldering, and there is one person in their gender and category for  (ex. one ACA male junior competing in bouldering at the HP competition), that person will earn 3rd place local points no matter what.

  • If the athlete is competing in bouldering, and there are two people from the ACA in the same gender and category, they will earn third and second place bouldering points based on who ranks higher in bouldering at the HP competition.

  • If the athlete is competing in bouldering, and there are three people from the ACA in the same gender and category, they will earn first, second and third place points depending on HP competition results.

  • If the athlete is competing in bouldering, there are four people from the ACA in the category, two of them will earn third place and the other two will earn first and second points based on their HP competition results.

  • If the athlete is competing in both lead and bouldering, the highest number of points they receive between the two disciplines will be awarded.
