2026 - 2027 Season

Participants in Sport Climbing are divided into age appropriate CATEGORIES. As per CEC’ Long Term Athlete Development Model, as well as the new IFSC categories standards, here are the Canadian’s sport climbing categories:

• Senior is 17+ at December 31

• U21/Junior is 19-20 at December 31

• U19/Youth A is 17-18 at December 31

• U17/Youth B is 15-16 at December 31

• U15/Youth C is 13-14 at December 31 – does NOT compete at National Championships

• U13/Youth D is 12 and under at December 31 – does NOT compete at Regional nor National Championships

For the 2026-2027 season, year of birth based on December 31, 2027, will be:

Senior: participants born in 2010 and before
U21/Junior: participants born in 2007 or 2008
U19/Youth A: participants born in 2009 or 2010
U17/Youth B: participants born in 2011 or 2012
U15/Youth C: participants born in 2013 or 2014
U13/Youth D: participants born in 2015 or earlier
