We’re excited for the upcoming Youth Boulder Local at Calgary Climbing Centre Chinook on December 9th 2023. Check out the event page for updates to the officials, format, schedule.
We are also looking for volunteers, since the competition can’t run without your help. Sign up to help our athletes get the best competition experience possible. We’ll provide all the training and support (including food and snacks).

We’ve had an ambitious start to the season, with a focus on improving communication to our members. We’re excited to expand our team in order to improve our membership communication.

Multiple competition updates: CCC & Canmore
Heads up, the Youth Lead Local in Canmore has changed dates from January 9th 2024 to January 13th 2024. Watch the event page for details.
We’ve also confirmed that the December 9th 2023 competition will be at the Calgary Climbing Centre Chinook location. The format for qualifiers and finals have been added as well. Keep an eye on the event page, and don’t forget to register while it’s open.

Registration for 2023 Senior Provincial Lead closes today
Today is the last day to register for the 2023 Senior Provincial Lead competition, which is hosted by the UofA Wilson Centre on Saturday November 11th. Head over to member.albertaclimbing.org to secure your spot. There is a reduced membership option for athletes that do not intend to compete at other ACA youth events or qualify for Nationals.

New results service for ACA competitions - Vertical Life
We’re excited to announce that the Alberta Climbing Association will be using the Vertical Life Results Service in partnership with Climbing Escalade Canada. We’ll begin by posting the results for the upcoming 2023 Senior Bouldering Provincial competition at Bolder Elevated to the CEC Climbing Result Service.
The legacy system, CompSeason, has served the ACA well over the years. However, it is an aging platform with declining support.

2023 Senior Provincial Lead Registration closes on November 3rd
Reminder: the registration deadline for the 2023 Senior Provincial Lead competition at the UofA Wilson Centre closes on Friday November 3rd. Don’t miss your chance to compete, register here today. Event details are posted on the event page.
Athletes that plan to only compete at Senior Provincial events have the option of purchasing a reduced single event membership. Youth athletes that intend to compete in other ACA events this season (including Nationals qualification) will require a regular ACA membership for the season.

ACA COACHES! The ACA is creating a coaching committee
Participation would involve:
Meetings and a group chat with other ACA coaches to share resources and coaching insights
Coaching at, and programming for Sunday Sessions after competitions
Opportunities to coach at ACA training camps
Building a coaching network to create more opportunities for your athletes
This committee is open to any registered ACA coaches, however, please consider joining especially if you are currently coaching high-performance athletes. If interested, email Paige Boklaschuk (Performance Chair) paigeboklaschuk@albertaclimbing.org
